Early life
Rituparna Sengupta was born in West Bengal, India, on November 7, 1971. From her early childhood, Rituparna was very much fascinated by arts science. As a result, she well-read painting, dancing, singing, and handicrafts at a painting school. The name of that school was Chitrangshu.
Besides learning fine arts, she used to write in periodicals like Anandalok and Bnagladesher Hriday. Before starting her film career, Sengupta took part in various TV series. But unfortunately, those never bring fame to her. At the same time, her father was against her shooting.

Personal life
Rituparna was born to Prabir Sengupta and Nandita Sengupta on November 7, 1971. Rituparna is married to her childhood friend Sanjay Chakrabarty in Munshiganj on December 13, 1999, a businessman (Founder and CEO of Mobi Apps). She has two children. Her daughter’s name is Rishona Niya Chakrabarty, and her son’s name is Ankan Chakrabarty.

Rituparna Sengupta is from a Bengali Hindu family. Her hobby is dancing, painting and playing badminton. Sengupta is a qualified Manipuri and Odissi dancer, and she has a dance troupe called “Bhabna Aaj O Kaal.” This group performs various dance-dramas based on Rabindranath Tagore such as Shyama, Meghdoot, etc. She is the owner of a media production company called Prism Entertainment.

Career
Rituparna Sengupta started her television career, a Bengali TV serial ‘Sada Pira’ (1989). However, her screen debut was opposite Kushal Chakraborty in the Bengali fantasy TV series Shwet Kapot (1989) broadcast on DD Bangla.
After her Secondary Examination, Chakraborty’s Sister Anindita, Sengupta’s classmate, insisted on a screen test for a role opposite her brother in the TV series. The series was an edition of the Danish fairy tale.

The White Dove. She has to play the role of an imprisoned princess shapeshifting into a white dove who falls in love with an imprisoned prince performing by Chakraborty. In the beginning, her father objected to her pursuing the role but gradually gave his consent. During this show, Sengupta can grab media personalities’ attention and enacted a few more parts in several other Bengali TV series, not taking off her career.

In 1992, she debuted her first Bengali Movie ‘Shwet Patharer Thala’ where Prabhat Roy was her co-star. This film brought fame for her as the big-screen debut. She also debuts in the South Indian movie ‘Kadhaveedu’ (2013); Hindi film ‘Teesra kaun’ (1994). She also worked in Bangladeshi films like ‘Swami kano Ashami’ (Mid 1997) and won a lot of popularity and glamour.

In 2016, Rituparna Sengupta was anchoring in the TV reality show ‘Home Minister Bouma.’ Rituparna Sengupta has time-honored a National Award, two Filmfare Critics Award, four BFJA Awards, and four Anandalok Awards.
